Paanaka is a Sanskrit word that translates to a drink or sweet drink or beverage. Paanaka is the most simplest and the traditional sweetened and flavoured water. This refreshing drink is made by adding jaggery to water and flavoured with fruit juice and / or cardamom. The basic paanaka is nothing but lemonade where lemon juice is added to jaggery or sugar sweetened water.

In this recipe, paanaka is made with mango juice. Typically, paanaka tastes sweet with hints of tang in it. So, I have used tangy sweet mango in the recipe.
